New Mexico dumps plans to make, distribute medical marijuana (Podcast)
Under a new state law that took effect July 1st, the state would have been the first to do more than register qualified patients.
That aspect of the program remains, however. Patients who qualify and who are registered will be exempt from local or state prosecution for possession.

-- Fear of federal prosecution of state workers has prompted the New Mexico health department to abandon plans to grow and distribute medical marijuana.Under a new state law that took effect July 1st, the state would have been the first to do more than register qualified patients.
That aspect of the program remains, however. Patients who qualify and who are registered will be exempt from local or state prosecution for possession.
