Fire Left to Burn near Vallecito VALLECITO LAKE, CO (ksje) - Growth of the Dead Horse Fire near Vallecito Lake has slowed.
The fire was discovered on Tuesday, burning in the w
Weminuche wilderness north of the Lake.
The fire had only grown by 5 acres from the 50-acres it was reported on Wednesday.
Managers have decided not to put the fire out anytime soon.
Officials say this will be a wildland use fire, which is to use this fire which started naturally from a lightning strike, to play out its natural role in the ecosystem of the wilderness area.
The fire is being monitored each day from the air and ground.
The Vallecito trail remains open.
