More Archuleta County Layoffs
This latest round of cuts will also affect the county's transportation and recycling programs.
22-workers were laid off earlier this month and county officials say even more people could lose their jobs.
Administrator Bob Campbell says Archuleta County is facing a 2-million dollar budge deficit and in addition to the layoffs county services are being cut back.
County Commissoners have also decided not to sell the old Archuleta County Courthouse.
Before the county's budget problems were discovered plans were made up to sell the courthouse and build a new officer complex on the east side of town.
Administrator Bob Campbell says given the current fiscal crisis major expenditures like that are on hold.
Archuleta County has scheduled a community meeting for Thursday at 6pm at the fairgrounds extension building to discuss the budget situation.
