Archuleta Budget Cuts Detailed
The County announced 13 more county employees were laid off this week
The job and budget cuts mean a decrease in government services.
The County's Mountain Express bus system will now only run Monday through Friday.. and only three runs will operate each day.
Bus fares will not increase.
The Pagosa Springs Recycling center will only be open 3 days a week and the Arboles center will be open the other two days.
Commercial recycling has been stopped.
New Road and Bridge projects have been put on hold and the maintenance staff is down by 50-percent
This winter the county says snow removal will take priority on major roads and school bus routes.
Special events and shopping trips to Durango for the county Senior program have been stopped.
The cutbacks are an effort the erase a 2-million dollar budget deficit in Archuleta County.
