Mesa Dropping Flights from Farmington
Mesa Airlines has informed officials at the Four Corners Regional airport that they will be ending their one flight each day to Albuquerque on August 19th.
Mesa also plans to stop flights to Cedar City Utah which was a stop on the way to Las Vegas, Nevada.
City officials are taking the news as a mixed blessing, because they say the change may bringa more reliable carrier to the routes.
Mesa airlines started in Farmington and still maintains a flight school at San Juan College.
Airport officials say they've received interest from at least 2 other airlines interested in taking over the routes Mesa is dropping.
Both Great lakes and New Mexico airlines are in talks with the city.
Airport officials point out that there are still regular flights to and from Farmington between Denver and Phoenix.
Officials theorize Mesa is dropping these routes as it gears up to begin commuter air service in China.
