First News: Santa Fe Sheriff searching for suspect in Xmas day double homicide south of Santa Fe. (listen)

(KSFR) - The Santa Fe County Sheriff is conducting a manhunt for the suspect in a Christmas Day double homicide just south of Santa Fe. An arrest warrant with a $1 million cash only bond has been issued for 18-year-old Joe C. Rivera, suspected of fatally shooting two men in their 20s after an altercation in a Valle Vista subdivision home. Rivera is considered to be armed and dangerous and anyone with information on the teen is urged to contact the Sheriff's office.

Santa Feans with a complaint about city hall may soon be able to file their protests online. That feature is one of many in planning for the new city website. Officials tell the Journal North it's another move toward more transparency in government. One of the goals of the site is to make it easier to navigate and find information by searching for it. They say the city has been gradually increasing the amount of information available to the public via the web.

Democratic State Sen.Tim Keller of Albuquerque says he's planning to introduce legislation to head off any future scandal like the one that hit the New Mexico Finance Authority. The agency's controller raised concerns about management oversight when he falsified the authority's
most recent financial report. Keller says he has bipartisan support for this bill. Among other things, it would make sure that members of the authority's board have experience in the financial sector and that they be required to routinely review financial statements.

Lying in state today at the Roundhouse is the body of Ben Lujan, former speaker of the state house and 40-year democratic representative from Nambe. Lujan passed away last week after a battle with cancer. A funeral Mass is set for Saturday at the St. Francis Cathedral Basilica.

Weather for Santa Fe - partly sunny and cold today with highs only in the low 30s. Meteorologist Brian Guyer with the Albuquerque weather service office says Santa Fe has a 30% chance for snowshowers beginning later this morning .*****
