First News:SF County will allocate $275,000 for furnishings for the new downtown courthouse; still not enough to fully outfit the facility. (listen)
(2012-12-12)
(KSFR) - The Santa Fe County Commission has agreed to allocate $275,000 to help furnish the new district courthouse that has been at the center of a dispute with the Martinez administration. But the allocation still isn't large enough to allow the court to move into the new building early next year. The chief judge had asked for $328,000 as a minimum. Now, they'll have to wait for a legislative appropriation for the balance, and that will probably delay the move until next summer. The governor had vetoed a legislative appropriation for the entire amount last winter but eventually conceded that the state could provide some but not all of the funding.

A proposal to change retail standards along the Airport Road corridor could be headed to the full city council as early as January 9. The measure got support from three more city councilors yesterday as it continued to move through city council committees. The proposal calls for regulating sales and advertising of alcohol in retail outlets and prohibiting drive-throughs at new restaurants. The plan also received a unanimous thumbs-up Tuesday from the County Board of Commissioners. Councilor Carmichael Dominguez says his proposal will improve the quality of life in the fast growing southeast area of Santa Fe.

Gov. Martinez has been telling news media that New Mexicans will need passports to fly come January because of the state's unique drivers license. Sen Tom Udall says he doubts very much that will happen and tells New Mexicans not to panic.*****

The Public Regulation Commission has given unanimous approval for PNM to add more renewable energy sources to its overall portfolio, now including for the first time geothermal energy harvested from a facility in the Lordsburg area. The PRC also approved a plan for PNM to update its voluntary customer program, Sky Blue, adding solar power to the already-existing wind energy option. The new solar and geothermal facilities will generate enough electricity to power 17,400 average-sized homes.

Weather for Santa Fe - mostly sunny today and Thursday before some more snow heads our way. Highs both days in the low-to-mid 40s. Forecaster Clay Anderson with the National Weather Service says precipitation could begin as early as tomorrow night as a wetter, warmer storm moves in, possibly starting as a snow/rain mix .****
