July 24 At Noon: PNM, EPA and pollution (Listen)
(2012-07-24)
PNM's San Juan generating plant (c) Durango Herald
(KSFR) -
On Tuesday's midday report -- Two big environmental issues in northwestern New Mexico. In one, PNM, the state and the EPA square off today over the pollution from PNM's San Juan generating station. In the second, the Navajo Nation tells a uranium mining company it can have access to tribal land, but not for mining. More than 24,000 New Mexicans, many of them women, have permits to carry concealed weapons. A self-defense expert tells us what really works best.

Correction July 26: KSFR incorrectly stated in this report that the U.S. 10th Circuit of Appeals had dismissed a lawsuit brought by the State of New Mexico against the EPA over a rule requirng Public Service Company of New Mexico to implement new regional "haze" controls. In fact, the court dismissed a request by the state for a stay on implementing the rule. The lawsuit remains.
