Judge orders names, salaries of some state workers off the web (Listen)

The names of hourly state workers will have to be taken off the governor's sunshine portal. That's the decision of a state district judge who agreed with union leaders that the administration didn't follow the law when it posted the names and salaries. Some workers said making the information public could affect their personal security. The governor's office says the administration will ask for legislation repealing the old law.

Members of the Santa Fe school board say they want more information about the state's new A through F grading system before they buy into it. They say too many aspects of the process behind the grades remain vague. A new state law put the system into effect last year and grades have started coming out this year. Under the system, Santa Fe schools got mostly Bs and Cs, with one achieving a grade of A and one failing completely.

The Sanbusco Market Center in the Santa Fe Railyard is now under the control of its creditors. The action ends the ownership by Joe Schepps who has operated the center for two decades. He filed for bankruptcy a year after the center's anchor tenant, Barnes & Noble, had pulled out. The New Mexican reports that Schepps owed some $9 million on the property.

Three more burglary suspects are behind bars this morning. They were arrested yesterday on suspicion of robbing a convenience stores on Airport Road. They are all men - two from Santa Fe, one from Espanola.

The number of whooping cough cases in New Mexico is going up. The state health department says the contagious coughing disease has affected 300 people so far this year. That's up from 275 for all of last year and 149 the year before that. The health department says Santa Fe has had some cases this year but 70 percent of them have been found in Bernalillo and Valencia counties.
