Southern N.M. fire spreads (Listen)
Fire information officer Iris Estes tells KSFR News the fire on the edge of the Gila National Forest has spread to more than 82,000 acres from 70,000 yesterday. Smoke is expected to obscure skies in Santa Fe and elsewhere today as the Whitewater-Baldy Complex Fire rages. A number of lightning-sparked fires in the area have been joined by high winds into a blaze that now encompasses more than 110 square miles. Twelve homes along with a number of other structures were counted previously as destroyed. None have burned since yesterday.
