Everyone know that Herpes Complex is not good news. But what may not be widely known is that this virus, which can remain dorman in the cells for years, is associated with increased risk of Alzheimer's Disease.

And the problem get worse as people get older. While some 20 percent of really young children run the risk of Herpes infection, that number grows to 60 percent by the time people are in their 20s and 30s. And 80 percent later on.

Leading this project at UNM is Dr. Elaine Bearer who is research vice president for UNM's pathology department. Herpes. Alzheimers. The question is what to do or be on the lookout for. Listen.
