Remembering D.H. Lawrence's wife Frieda (Listen again)
(KSFR) -
On KSFR's At Noon midday report, we explore what it takes to make a good actor.

Most good actors study the subject they're portraying. That's the job that fell to Santa Fe actress Rima Miller who plays the role of D.H. Larence's wife, Frieda, in a play named Empty Bed Blues. It's about to open at the Santa Fe Playhouse.

The Lawrence name still resonates throughout northern New Mexico. The ranch with his name is a well-known landmark just ouside Taos. After D.H. died, Frieda settled there with her lover Angelo Ravagli and they were well known and well liked in the community.

Rima Miller found 97-year-old Jennie Vincent who describes the Frieda Lawrence she knew.

Key Dates

October 21-November 6: Empty Bed Blues, Santa Fe Playhouse

November 4: Women in Love, The Lensic Performing Arts Center (New BBC adaptation. One night only -- the only showing in North America. Proceeds to KSFR and the Santa Fe Playhouse)
