PRC member says meetings should be "open" (Listen again)
(2010-10-06)
(KSFR) -
New Mexico's Public Regulation Commission has had its share of big news this year. Among the latest developments is a not-so-favorable report on the state's insurance department. While the department itself is only loosely overseen by the PRC, its head - the insurance superintendent - works directly for the Public Regulation Commission.

The latest issue is a recent audit of the state insurance department by the National Association of Insurance Commissioners. It wasn't a good report. It turned up a number of flaws that have to be corrected. Exactly what those flaws are is not widely known because they've been kept secret by the insurance superintendent who only wants to discuss the flaws and the remedies with his bosses in private. One member of the Public Regulation Commission is holding out on private meetings. He thinks they should be public.

PRC commissioner Jason Marks joins us to talk about it on KSFR's At Noon midday report.
