Election night coverage (Listen again)
(2010-06-02)
(KSFR) -
One of the cliff hangers from Tuesday's primary elections was the race between the long-standing Speaker of the House of Representatives and a newcomer. Democratic Rep. Ben Lujan has been in office since the mid 1970s. And he's served as the speaker for much of that time. But he almost lost both jobs when challenger Carl Trujillo came within a handful of votes of winning.

The county clerk said at the time that there were still a few provision ballots to count, so the election just might hang in the balance until results are made official. Meanwhile, Carl Trujillo tells the New Mexico Independent that he just might ask for a recount of the vote, because it was so close.

KSFR offered election night coverage, live, from the county clerk's office. Joining me were Dan Gerrity of KSFR News and Julia Goldberg, editor of the Santa Fe Reporter. Here are excerpts.
