Is Santa Fe headed toward cell-tower moratorium? (Podcast)
(2010-04-01)
(KSFR) -
-- This week's Santa Fe city council meeting drew a number of comments from Santa Feans who showed up, because the agenda for the evening session called for a vote on a telecommunications ordinance. But the ordinance question never came up when the council got to that spot on the agenda.

KSFR learned later that it's been postponed again.

In the meantime, city councilor Miguel Chavez and a local citizens group will hold two public meetings on the subject of the ordinance. We asked Chavez what he hoped to achieve. Other cities have had moratoriums in place while they explore how to put together their own telecommunications ordinances. One of them is Glendale, California, which had a year-long moratorium. But next week, the Glendale City Council will be debating an ordinance that was put together over the past 12 months.
