At LANL: Understanding how some earthquakes are triggered (Podcast)
(2010-02-16)
(KSFR) -
-- On KSFR's Tuesday At Noon midday report:

A research team at the Los Alamos national lab has gotten a little closer to understanding how some earthquakes are triggered. What they finally wind up learning just might bear on finding a way to tell in advance when an earthquake is about to take place. The research has to do with tremors in the ground tens of miles beneath the earth's surface. They've learned these tremors set off when one earthquake occurs can travel many miles to another location where they can trigger aftershocks or even another small earthquake.
