State film incentives program under microscope (Podcast)
(2010-02-09)
(KSFR) -
-- From KSFR's At Noon midday report for Tuesday:

Critics of New Mexico's film incentives program may have found some new ammunition to see if it's possible to cut back on some of the money spent by the state to lure film makers to come to New Mexico and spend their money here instead of in other states.

An economist with the Boston Federal Reserve Bank has taken a look at several film incentives program in dfferent states, including New Mexico, and has written an opinion that they may not be returning as much money to the state as previously thought.

New Mexico commissioned a study by the accounting firm Enrst and Young. That study rang the praises for the state film incentives program. But Jennifer Weiner of the Boston Fed has some contradictory thoughts about that.
