DENVER/SANTA FE
(KSFR) -
-- New Mexico's oldest and youngest state delegates to the Democratic National Convention have met for the first time. And they find they share more than just their political-party allegiance. They also share the same birthday.
Former State Representative J. Paul Taylor of Las Cruces has just turned 88 years old. The youngest delegate is Sean Stimmel of Los Alamos. He just turned 20.
The birthday they share in common is August 24th.
Taylor's grandfather was New Mexico's delegate to Congress during territorial times and helped found the New Mexico Republican party.
Stimmel says he wasn't interested in politics at all until recently. He told KSFR News that Barack Obama got him all fired up.
KSFR's Ellen Dupuy spoke with them in Denver.
KSFR listeners who might miss the first news at 7 a.m. weekdays on the air now have the chance to get it and listen to it whenever they want it - by cell phone.
