Denver Post to Obama: Choose Richardson
(2008-08-03)
(KSFR) - -- The Denver Post editorial page this past week endorsed New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson as the Democratic vice presidential nominee.

The post says, "Insiders suggest that Barack Obama is mulling Richardson and Indiana Sen. Evan Bayh, among others, as potential vice presidential candidates. We think there's only one direction to go."

In an open letter to Obama, the Post editorial urges he select a "son of the West" who is qualified for the job. The paper says, "Richardson clearly leads all other Democratic contenders..."

The Post cites Richardson's 14 years in the U.S. Housoe of Representatives, his service as U.S. ambassador to the U.N., and his post cas energy department secretary.

It says Richardson "would bring formidable foreign policy credentials to the Democratic ticket offsetting one of Obama's key weaknesses.

"He's one of the few Americans actually welcomed in North Korea."
