Water-vending machines can waste 1 million gallons of S.F. water a year (Podcast)
SANTA FE
(KSFR) -
-- New research by KSFR News shows that Santa Feans waste more than a million gallons of water a year simply by filling up water jugs at reverse osmosis vending machines. Sources say the machines may waste from one to three gallons of water for every gallon container filled up. State environment officials say the extra filtration is overkill and simply repeats most of the treatment processes already performed on Santa Fe's municipal water.
