Sen. Udall responds as nuke group sues government (Listen again
(2010-08-17)
(KSFR) -
A nuclear watchdog group announced more than a month ago it planned to take the federal government to court if it didn't offer detailed plans on the proposal to build a $4 billion plutonium facility at the Los Alamos national lab. Now, the Los Alamos Study Group has filed that lawsuit. They say the lab violated federal environmental protection rules when it made plans to build a much bigger plutonium research building than was studied under the initial environmental impact statement. Greg Mello heads up the Los Alamos Study Group. He says the lab has said nothing about how it plans to act in accordance with federal environmental regulations. And we asked U.S. Sen. Tom Udall for his view, when he visited KSFR's studios.
