Las Cruces Honored With Diversity Award
(2010-03-15)
(krwg) - The City of Las Cruces is being honored with a Cultural Diversity award by the National League of Cities and National Black Caucus of Local Elected Officials. Cultural Diversity awards are given the cities across the U.S. for their efforts to enhance and celebrate cultural diversity in their communities.

Las Cruces was been selected as a runner-up for a city with a population of 25,001-100,000. Cities are chosen for implementing a variety of innovative programs and unique events designed to help citizens recognize the impressive diversity within their own community.

Las Cruces was selected for its World Culture in the Courtyard Program at Branigan Cultural Center. This event is held in conjunction with the First Friday Ramble in downtown Las Cruces where different cultural groups are represented.

Last year, only eight cities were awarded from a pool of applicants from around the country.
