Congress Attempting to Compromise on FISA Legislation LAS CRUCES, NM (krwg) - Senior Congressional officials say they are close to a compromise on a joint version of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act or FISA. Previous FISA legislation expired February 16th and debates over new legislation have created a stalemate in Congress. The legislation would provide retro-active immunity for telecommunications companies involved in wiretapping at the government's request post September 11, 2001.
