Lavinia Greenlaw explains how music helped her as she grew up. Ralph Stanley talks about his family, his music and his concern with death. Novelist and poet Lavinia Greenlaw has written a memoir called "The Importance of Music to Girls." She talks with Anne Strainchamps about how music helped her as she grew up and reads from her book.

Ralph Stanley is one of the founding fathers of bluegrass or old-time mountain music. His memoir is called "Man of Constant Sorrow: My Life and Times," and was written with music journalist Eddie Dean. Stanley talks with Steve Paulson about his family, his music and his concern with death, and we hear lots of his music.

Novelist Nick Hornby reveals his knowledge of obsessive music fan-dom in his new book, "Juliet, Naked." He reads from the book and talks about it with Jim Fleming.
