Home Modification for Disabled and Seniors STEELEVILLE, IL (wsiu) - About ten Southern Illinois families will get help thanks to the Home Modification Program.

The Illinois Housing Development Authority has awarded Western Egyptian Economic Opportunity Council $150,000 to help disabled individuals and seniors remain independent by making accessibility improvements and repairs to their homes.

To qualify for the program, households must have at least one disabled family member or as senior over the age of 60, house hold incomes must not exceed 50% of the area median based on household size, and there must be a documented need for home modification.

Eligible households have to be referred to Western Egyptian from participating agencies. Referrals are currently being accepted. © Copyright 2012, wsiu
