J. Edgar Hoover was a gifted man driven to political power and fame. He advanced forensic science and expanded the scope and efficacy of the FBI. Hoover also exhibited a dark side evidenced by his keeping of secret files, deporting radicals and spreading paranoia. Though Hoover persecuted suspected homosexuals he also enjoyed a lifetime companionship with Clyde Tolson that is the subject of much speculation. Screenwriter and filmmaker Dustin Lance Black (Milk, Big Love) returns to discuss his new film J.Edgar, directed by Clint Eastwood and starring Leonardo DiCaprio.
