INsight with Kelly Ashkettle, Oct 15
INsight with Kelly Ashkettle, Oct 15 Kelly is heard on KRCL every Thursday at 8am and 1pm.
Kelly Ashkettle, Staff Writer for IN Mag, visits and reviews local haunted houses. Last year, I visited seven haunted attractions in the Salt Lake area -- all for the first time. I gave four stars to the huge, special-effects laden Nightmare on 13th. The Haunted Forest in American Fork was a bit of a drive, but I gave it three-and-a-half stars due to its length, unified theme and attention to detail.

Castle of Chaos got three stars because it was creative and different but a little too short. The Scream Asylum in Provo got three stars, primarily for its elaborately dressed sets.

Frightmares and The Haunted Village each got two-and-a-half stars for adding fairly spooky elements to existing parks.

But I felt like I was being generous by giving one star to the Carnival of Fear, a new haunt that opened inside a former PetSmart in Taylorsville.
