I remember screaming my way through Murray Park as I was chased by a horde of psychopathic murderers with chainsaws while my mother tried to calm me by reminding me I was the one who wanted the haunted house experience. Nonetheless somewhere along the way I decided I liked a world that was inhabited by creepy crawlies (even if it wasn't really so). The problem was, as a kid, there were very few horror films I could actually see. My mother, who can't stand the tension of a mild thriller, wasn't about to drag her little boy to whatever slasher film was chewing up movie houses. So I made do with 1982's "Poltergeist" and freaking myself out to the sounds of Maleficent calling out for Princess Aurora to prick her finger and enter a trance of endless sleep. Oh how I loved to be terrified!
