Did you participate in World Animal Day on October 4th? It was a day to celebrate all animals, but also a time of major fundraisers and initiatives from environmental and pet groups, making October a good month to find a group to align with and give your support. Pet lovers, join the Seattle Humane Society (www.seattlehumane.org), and remember that pet waste from the yard can enter streams and introduce domestic bacteria to wildlife, so be sure to pick up, especially as the rains increase. Wildlife organizations to support include the Wildlife Conservation Society (www.wcs.org), Nature Conservancy (www.audubon.org), and the World Wildlife Fund (www.wwf.org).
