SEATTLE
(KPLU) -
Seattle is abuzz this week... with players of a strange musical instrument called the theremin. Invented by Russian physicist Leon Theremin in 1919, it's a predecessor of the modern synthesizer. There's no keyboard - instead, the musician touches the air around the instrument to generate sound. It's so hard to play well that the theremin has been known mostly for sound effects. But that's starting to change. KPLU's Bellamy Pailthorp is a big theremin fan, and has this report. Thereminworld.com
