(KPLU) - Seattle Mayor Greg Nickels remains in third place following the release of more primary election results Wednesday afternoon.

With an estimated two-thirds of the votes counted, Mayor Nickels still only has about 25 percent of the vote. Moving into first place is T-Mobile Executive Joe Mallahan. Sierra Club activist Mike McGinn is now in second place. McGinn and Mallahan have each garnered a little more than 26 percent of the vote.

Mayor Nickels says he still believes things will turn his way as more votes are counted. On election night, Nickels blamed the results on the recession and people's general grumpiness with incumbents.

Both Mike Mcginn and Joe Mallahan are political newcomers. McGinn has made a major issue of his opposition to a tunnel replacement for the Alaskan Way Viaduct. Mallahan says he'll bring his experience in managing a business to the job.
