Swine Flu Stories
Swine Flu Reaching New Peak
King County Director of Public Health David Fleming told his Board of Health on Friday that he's frustrated there isn't more vaccine available. But he's had a glimmer of good news, that 52,000 more doses are in the mail, on top of the 82,000 already on hand. That's still less than half what was expected by now.
The next vaccine shipment should arrive some time the week of November 2nd, and for the first time, some of it will be distributed through pharmacies. That's in King County; each county has its own process for distributing vaccine.
It's reserved, of course, for high-priority groups, which includes people who are either young or have underlying health problems. Overall, the vaccine will be in short supply for another month. By then, the flu may have tapered off, although you still might want the vaccine because there's a good chance of another surge in swine flu during the winter.

In case you haven't noticed, there's been a dramatic increase in the amount of swine flu circulating in western Washington. The signs are pretty clear: kids absent from schools, hospitals seeing a flood of patients, a thousand calls a day to King County's flu hotline. null
