Funding for the needy is likely to take another hit, as King County struggles with a $56 million budget deficit. Despite handing off its animal shelter and dozens of public parks, the county still faces a big shortfall. Interim King County Executive Kurt Triplett says every area of government will shrink next year. But his proposed budget focuses on preserving public safety. null
