Cops Push for Preschool
WHITE CENTER, WA
(KPLU) -
Cops and teachers are teaming up to push for more preschool.
This morning, King County Sheriff Sue Rahr and Burien Police Chief Scott Kimerer are holding a news conference along with educators to talk about the importance of early learning programs.
The event will be held at the Educare Early Learning Center in White Center at 10 a.m.
The law enforcement leaders say high quality preschools help reduce crime over the long run. At the news event, the sheriff and others will be calling on Congress to shift from a K-12 education model to a preschool-12 approach.
This comes as Congress is rewriting portions of what was called the No Child Left Behind Act. In the past few years, Washington state has put an emphasis on early learning programs.
