Palin Reportedly Coming To The Tri-Cities For Thanksgiving, Richland Residents React
(2009-11-19)
(N3) - Thanksgiving is approaching. We all have that person in the family who we're eager to see. Some of us also have that loved one we'd rather stay far away. Those are pretty much the reactions from residents in Richland, after news that Sarah Palin is coming to town for turkey day. KPLU's Anna King reports.

Full story
At this gas station in north Richland people are all over the map about Sarah Palin's visit. Nurse practitioner, Maria Castillo, sees Palin as a hero.

Maria Castillo: "'Cause I'm also a working mother with a family, and an older mother that has a brand new baby at 40. And I really appreciate her stand and being sharp in every hat that she wears."

Others, like sheet metal worker Andy Brasher, are less enthusiastic.

Andy Brasher: "I just don't like her views and opinions. I don't like how she quit being the governor of Alaska. It doesn't give our young people a very good idea of how things work. You don't just quit something you stick it out and finish it."

Falling into the political middle is Ariel Giangrande, who's perplexed.

Ariel Giangrande: "Why is she coming to Washington? You mean like the Tri-Cities? Why?"

News reports say Palin's grandparents spent time in Richland to work at Hanford in the 40s. And her aunt still lives here.
