School Boundaries Up For Vote
(2009-11-18)
(KPLU) - School boundaries are on the agenda at tonight's Seattle School Board meeting. Members are expected to approve new attendance maps, part of the district's move to neighborhood schools. Dr. Tracy Libros manages the district's enrollment services. Libros says public input on the new boundaries has been thorough.

"We had a number of community meetings. We also got literally thousands of emails and comment cards, and actually all of them have been read."

Libros says the feedback resulted in a number of boundary changes. After tonight's vote, the board will consider remaining issues, including how it will handle sibling assignments and transportation needs. Seattle's neighborhood schools plan will be phased in next year, for kids in Kindergarten, sixth and ninth grades.
