A Salute to Charlie Haden: Jazz Bassist and So Much More
SEATTLE, WA
(KPLU) -
He's been recording for 50 years. And this month, jazz bassist Charlie Haden celebrates his 72nd birthday. It's the perfect opportunity for KPLU's Nick Morrison to compile a list of five songs that best define Charlie Haden. Nick recently talked with KPLU's Kirsten Kendrick about Haden's body of work, which is more diverse than you might think.
Nick Morrison's selections of Charlie Haden's work:
Charlie Haden/Hank Jones - Wade in the Water - Steal Away
Ornette Coleman Quartet - Ramblin' - Change of the Century
Charlie Haden's Quartet West - Always Say Goodbye - Always Say Goodbye
Charlie Haden Liberation Music Orchestra - Not in Our Name - Not in Our Name
Charlie Haden/Pat Metheny - Our Spanish Love Song - Beyond the Missouri Sky (Short Stories)
