Port Angeles Paints the Town
SEATTLE, WA
(KPLU) -
For many small towns in the region, the down economy has been devastating. The Olympic Peninsula city of Port Angeles depends heavily on tourism and feared the worst when the Hood Canal Bridge was closed this spring. So they decided to do something about it. The community has been sprucing up its historical downtown, powered by volunteers. They've dubbed the effort Our Community at Work and they're hosting a city-wide celebration this weekend. KPLU's Bellamy Pailthorp spoke with Jan Harbick, the co-chair of the campaign.
