Port Angeles Notebook
(2005-05-24)
(KPLU) - This morning we have a story about discovery, heartbreak and transformation. Months ago, Washington State cancelled a huge construction project after uncovering hundreds of Indian graves. Feelings are still raw in Port Angeles, where this happened. It cost jobs and cast doubt on future waterfront development. Today, we examine the lasting impact on the Lower Elwha Klallam Tribe. It's the second part of a special series presented in cooperation with the Seattle Times. Reporter Lynda Mapes brings us the story of tribal members who found more than the bones and belongings of their ancestors. They rekindled their identity.
