SEATTLE
(KPLU) -
Before it was superseded by Interstate 5 in the 1960's, U-S Highway 99 was the quickest way to drive up and down Washington, Oregon and California. Remnants of the road's glory days can still be seen along stretches of the old two-lane highway. While it has never captured the public's imagination the way Route 66 did, fans of Highway 99 say its every bit as enticing. All week we'll be Spending Time on 99. We begin our KPLU special series by looking back and taking a tour.
