Murray Confident as Vote Count Continues
SEATTLE, WA
(KPLU) -
Senator Patty Murray told her supporters she expects her lead to hold as the vote count continues.
"We are winning tonight and we are going to win even bigger tomorrow," Murray told the crowd gathered at the Westin Hotel in downtown Seattle.
Murray's campaign believes her win will be secured as more vote counts are released in heavily democratic King County. King County will release the next returns Wednesday at 4:30 p.m.
In her speech, Murray used individuals in the crowd to tout her accomplishments. Pete the Iraq veteran who's benefiting from the new G.I. bill, a woman named Erin who lost her insurance when she got cancer and will be helped by health care reform and a small business owner who's used economic recovery money to hire workers.
Despite her powerful position and 18 year tenure in the Senate, Murray said she's still that mom in tennis shoes who first ran for office promising to stick up for the powerless.
