(2009-09-05)
(KPLU) - Americans have been observing Labor Day since 1894. Most people use the holiday to celebrate a day off from work and the final day of summer. In honor of Labor Day, KPLU's Nick Morrison has come up with a list of songs about work. He shares some of his selections with KPLU's Kirsten Kendrick.

Nick Morrison's selection of Labor Day songs:

Working in a Coal Mine - Lee Dorsey - Golden Classics
I'll Do Anything But Work - Ray Charles - The Swingtime Records Story (Various Artists)
Hard Work Boogie (Hard Luck Boogie) - St. Louis Jimmy Oden - St. Louis Jimmy Oden,
Vol. 2: 1944-1955
Too Lazy - T-Bone Walker - Complete Imperial Recordings, 1950-1954
