Alaska Yukon Pacific Exposition SEATTLE, WA (KPLU) - It was meant to honor Seattle's connection to the gold rush in Alaska and to promote trade with Pacific Rim countries. It happened in 1909. It was called the Alaska Yukon Pacific Exposition. The 100th anniversary of the event kicks off Saturday in Seattle.
