Airforce Veteran Jim Romero flew U.S. C-54 cargo planes in the corridor between Frankfurt and Berlin during the airlift. He now lives in Lacey, Washington.

This year marks the 60th anniversary of the Berlin Airlift.
From May 1948 to September 1949, hundreds of US and British planes flew supplies in to the people who lived in Germany's capital city. An exhibition on display at the Museum of Flight in Seattle tells the history of the airlift. KPLU's Bellamy Pailthorp caught up with a local pilot who flew in the US mission.
