Brazilian Nights PNW will introduce Seattle to Brazilian artists who represent the best traditions of a culture drenched in rhythm and melody. Local Seattle musicians rooted in those same traditions will team up for evenings of music guaranteed to delight and astonish. “We want to showcase artists who are pushing Brazilian music forward while staying true to their roots, and who may not get a lot of airplay outside of Brazil. We want to see what beautiful things evolve from the cultural exchange this makes possible.” said co-producer Adriana Giordano.
The project will offer the public music workshops in vocal, piano, guitar and clarinet, conducted by the artists. According to Giordano, “This will be a great opportunity for the local community to explore Brazilian music guided by artists who know the territory by heart.”
Brazilian Nights PNW opens on Friday, August 8 with the Alessandro Penezzi Trio. Best known for his jaw-dropping technical range and deep knowledge of the traditional song forms of his native Brazil, Penezzi teams up with versatile clarinetist Alexandre Ribeiro and violinist Ted Falcon for a night of original music that will leave you breathless.
