(2007-06-29)
Juniper has taken over where piņon once stood. Drought, bark beetles and a warming climate have killed thousands of piņons in Northern Arizona. Sadie Babits
(knau) - Host Intro:

Scientists at the national center for atmospheric research tell us the western part of the US is feeling the effects of climate change more than the east right now. And certainly one part of the west where changes are becoming more tangible is right here in northern Arizona. Every Friday this summer, KNAU will bring you our local series Climate Connections. We'll explore how northern Arizona's climate is changing, and how that change, affects us. In our first report, Sadie Babits introduces us to researchers who are looking at the region's archaeological past, to help understand the new present and the likely future.
