| PFF will be screening Metropolis, the classic 1927 silent film, with live piano accompaniment from Jonathan Best. In the summer of 2008 a curator at a museum in Buenos Ares discovered a 16mm dup negative of the film Metropolis that included 25 minutes of previously lost footage. This film served as a blueprint to a new re-edit of Metropolis. The film has now been restored with this missing footage which includes sub-plots that were previously missing. The Prescott Film Festival is proud to present the newest restoration of Metropolis, the story of a futuristic city sharply divided between the working class and the city planners. When the son of the city’s master planner falls in love with a working class profit, Metropolis starts to fall apart. Amazing special effects in this very forward looking groundbreaking Sci-Fi film! |
