Main Gallery: "Moments in Time," works by the Kansas Academy of Oil Painters
The Kansas Academy of Oil Painters will be displaying its newest works, including paintings by Mary Binford Miller, Chuck Roach, Dennis McKay and Maleta Forsberg. In total, 23 artists from Wichita and the surrounding cities have contributed work to this exhibit. Visitors will be amazed by the variety of styles of the contributing artists.
Main Gallery Hall: "My Perspective," drawings by Clyde CC Engert
After retiring from Trans World Airlines (TWA), the State of Kansas and his own technology company, Clyde "CC" Engert of Andover returned to watercolors. He completed classes at the Wichita Center for the Arts and CityArts and now keeps busy with both pencil sketching and painting with watercolors. Often using content of old barns or forest landscapes, Engert's art showcases a variety of spaces that speak to one's sense of peace and the serene.
Boardroom and Balcony Galleries: "Western Wisdom and Tall Tales," paintings by Angela Doan
After living all over the United States, Angela Doan moved back to the great open Flint Hills. Since returning to Kansas, she is inspired by the West to paint intriguing subject matter and its sometimes serious/sometimes quirky heritage. Doan's work encompasses a variety of large free-range animals native to the Kansas landscape: wild horses, bison, long horn cattle, and even the mythical Jackalope.
All exhibits will be on display from Aug. 29 through Sept. 28. Admission is free to CityArts' exhibition galleries that are open 9 a.m.-9 p.m., Monday-Thursday; 9 a.m.-5 p.m., Friday; 9 a.m.-9 p.m., Final Friday; and 9 a.m.-4 p.m., Saturday. For more information call 316-350-3245.
