Nebraskans for Peace's Palestinian Task Force will hold a vigil for those killed in Gaza and Israel since the onslaught of Israel's "Operation Protective Edge". Since the start of the operation two weeks ago, over 500 Palestinians and 20 Israelis have lost their lives.
The vigil will be a silent memorial honoring and remembering the victims. The goal is to foster understanding and compassion. Additionally, Nebraskans for Peace seeks to shed light on the tragic consequences of Israel's occupation of the Palestinian Territories.
We seek to promote justice, equality, and peace between Palestinians and Israelis and hope to begin this process starting within our own community.
PLEASE REMEMBER: -Dress in BLACK OR RED (to represent unnecessary bloodshed) -Keep silent. -Keep calm, if someone attempts to aggravate you please ignore them. The vigil is a time for us to mourn and remember, not fight. -This is not an "us" vs "them" issue. Jews and Palestinians must become allies against hatred, apartheid, and oppression if we truly wish to see an end to the occupation and violence. -We will meet in front of Brix -Jazz on the Green will be occurring around the same time at this location; get there on time so parking will be easier. Carpooling is highly recommended!
