Abendmusik will celebrate the New Year with their annual "New Yearís Last Blast with the Plymouth Brass" on Tuesday, December 31st at 8 PM featuring Lincolnís ever-popular Plymouth Brass with special guest Jack Levick at First-Plymouth Church, 20th and D Streets in Lincoln. The concert marks a special moment in Abendmusik history as it will be the first concert sponsored by the Levick Legacy Society. This society annually seeks donations to honor the founder and former artistic director of Abendmusik, Jack Levick. It will be a special delight to have Jack Levick back to conduct several of the pieces on the concert. The concert will feature a wide range of pieces and begin with a setting of Highland Cathedral with Edwin Mukusha playing bagpipes. Mukusha will also be featured on a setting of Amazing Grace and Hector the Hero. Other pieces on the program include settings of the Holiday carols We Three Kings, Joseph Dearest, Joseph Mild, Sussex Carol and a rousing new rendition of Joy to the World.† Rounding out the program will be the premiere of two new arrangements, Mr. Sandman (made famous by the Chordettes) and Itís Been A Long, Long Time arranged by David Sharp. The evening will conclude with the ever famous 1812 Overture and even allow the audience to participate in creating the canons that are traditionally heard in this piece! To make the celebration complete, people may choose to purchase tickets to the optional dessert & champagne intermission. Seating for the champagne/dessert reception is limited, so we encourage you to purchase these tickets in advance. Single tickets for the concert and reception are available.† Adults are $20; Senior Citizens (age 62 and over) are $18; and Students (grade school through full-time college students) are $10.† Tickets for the Champagne & Dessert reception are $8 per person.
